ABSTRACT

Turkey experienced an unusually troubling crisis. The economy continued to suffer from the emerging market crisis recently. Domestic demand contracted by 6.4 percent which the steepest decline in economic activity since 1945. Two major earthquakes caused great suffering and dislocation. More than 17,000 people lost their lives, thousands of buildings collapsed and industrial production was interrupted, leading to material losses in the range of $ 7-8 billion.

Under these circumstances, Arçelik A.Ş.  results are more than satisfactory. Importantly, Arçelik was able to preserve its dominant share in the market despite Customs Union with the EU, now in its fourth year, and the entry of all major international brands. In spite of all these developments, Arçelik and Beko brands remained the most popular on the market.

Objective of this dissertation is to examine reasons of  this success by approaching in economical perspective and to submit the company profile of Arçelik A.Ş. to readers.
